Restoring a M4 Sherman ‘Firefly’

“CRCS Onlus – Cingoli e Ruote per Conoscere la Storia” is a non-profit association that works to restore classic Second World War military vehicles.

We are a young group of friends who as volunteer dedicated time, resources and money to engage this project in which we firmly believe. By means of our work and passion, we hope to prevent history to be forgotten and thousands of lives died in vain.

All our achievements and ongoing projects are available on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/crcs.onlus/) Instagram (@crcsonlus) and our website www.crcsonlus.org

This GoFundMe project aims at restoring an extremely rare Sherman, produced by Chrysler in October 1943.

Its distinctive trait relies on its hybrid shell: it is a combination of a M4 (Sherman1) shell together with a welded front of a M4A1 (Sherman2). Moreover, it has the famous M4 Firefly Sherman modification, fitted with the powerful 3-inch (76.2 mm) caliber British 17pdr as its main weapon.

By reviving this tank, we want to honor our Italian history and those people who fought and died for our freedom. It is our duty to show how terrifying being inside these tanks could have been, we want to show off vehicles’ history and engineering as well as the crew’s lives.

We need your help and support to bring this iconic tank back to life. Unfortunately, we can not afford to restore it with our funds only.

To anyone who wants to help us restoring military vehicles: feel free to donate and share this link through social media.

Our goal is to collect 30.000€ which will be spent for:

–           Continental Wright R-975 Whirlwind revision

–           Electrical, power supply and grease systems restoration

–           Mechanical components review

–           Missing shell components restoration

–           Painting

–           Tracks replacements

We can still manage to create something good, even in these though and uncertain times, but we need your help to show it off by bringing these wrecks back to life. They deserve it.
